Airfix, Grandpa, and me October 7th, 2006 - 07:29 am
In the past couple of months, two big parts of my early gaming life have passed on to that great ZOC in the sky

Recently found out that my last grandfather passed a few weeks back. I have fond memories of him, playing games of various kinds. He was a great player, I dont mean he won alot, but that he played just for pure enjoyment. I must of played 400 different card games with him and my grandma. All I can figure is they read Hoyle from cover to cover.

Also I heard that AIRFIX has gone out of business. This is also sad as most of my early day memories of playing with soldiers in the back yard are tied to AIRFIX soldiers.

When I was in my early teens we visited my grandparents for the summer. To keep my brother and I busy my grandfarther helped us build a hill/fortification on a 4foot x 4foot sheet of plywood. My grandfather made dentures for a living so we used dental plaster for the construction. Lets just say this thing weighed quite a bit when finished. But once complete made good place for my brother and I to play with AIRFIX (I think we had some revell stuff too).
